I saw Batman Begins this past weekend. I must agree with friends: best Batman movie. Also, it's not a bad movie on its own, and seems like it would be a good movie even without the Batman canon backing it up.
I was thumbing through the jazz section of the Borders music collection a few weeks ago. I enjoyed some modern stuff, like a new Pat Metheny album, some older stuff, like "Relaxin with the Miles Davis Quintet", and some cool stuff that isn't really jazz but just damned cool music, the new Marcus Miller album "Silver Rain". Very cool, very funky, and a little jazzy. It includes a cover of Frankenstein, a hard rock anthem that now appears on a compilation entitled "Mullets Rule" (which I found entertaining), an interpretation of Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata" that's surprisingly well done, and a bunch of orginal stuff.
Although I thought it was very "fun" music with a great pulse, I would be surprised if any of my friends who read this would enjoy it. Dave, though, would REALLY dig it, I feel pretty certain.
One last thing: Late July heat and humidity in Carbondale make for some solid discomfort. Pale skin doesn't help much, either. You'd think the light coloration would reflect more light, you know, like a white t-shirt...
